Missed out on some things this past year? Here’s Perfume’s year 2009 in a fairly extended nutshell: (more…)
Pardon my fashionably late announcement, but New Years was such a blast for the staff we nearly forgot about the poll! The turnout was a lot bigger this year as well. In any case, here are the results!
In third place…

.
.. with 73 votes ..
…
edge (⊿-Mix)
In second place…
.
.
.
.. with 94 votes ..
…
And in first place, the best Perfume song of 2009 is…
(drumroll)
.
.
.
.
.
.. with 114 votes ..
…
……
Thanks to everyone who participated in the poll! Here are the complete results of each song:
OneRoom Disco = 114 (24%)
NIGHT FLIGHT = 94 (20%)
edge (⊿-Mix) = 73 (15%)
The best thing = 68 (14%)
I still love u = 59 (13%)
23:30 = 18 (4%)
Kiss and Music = 16 (4%)
Zero Gravity = 14 (3%)
Negai (Album-mix) = 11 (2%)
Take off = 3 (0.6%)
Speed of Sound = 2 (0.4%)
What do you think? Did the results surprise you? As the sole new single Perfume released in 2009, I think OneRoom Disco was a worthy choice for the #1 spot this year; it didn’t top Oricon for nothing after all. The highly stylistic and catchy NIGHT FLIGHT is also a good candidate in the top 3, and personally my favorite track in the Triangle album. The original edge already made the love the world single seem like a double a-side and broke a zenith of records when it released in 2008, as yet the edge (⊿-Mix) just added on as one of Yasutaka’s best and most badass creations for Perfume to date.
I’ll wrap up 2009 in the next blog post. Sit tight and stay tuned!
ONE ROOM DISCO ranked #1 on it’s first week in the Oricon charts selling over 88,075 copies. And for those who live in Japan, Perfume had surprises for them as they did with previous releases. Buying a limited copy of ONE ROOM DISCO and filling the included form, there was many rare goods you could get: “Live backstage invitation”, “Fan’s Home Visit” And lots of goods: 100 “Perfume Original Goods” gifts, 3 “Unique Deluxe One Room Disco CD Sleeve Case”, 1 “Perfume rare T-shirt (Staff T-shirt or Member T-shirt)” and more original goods.
Perfume’s third Live DVD was released on April 23: BUDOUKaaaaaaaaaaN!!!!! with footage from their 2-days Live at Nippon Budoukan on November 6 and 7, 2008. Also with unreleased and backstage footage including a PV for Butterfly [
]. Also and before you buy the DVD (if you already hadn’t yet!) check out the forums for snapshots or previews. There’s also a complete review at The Bonkurasu Brigade.
They became the new MUSIC JAPAN hostesses [
],[
]. They have their weekly appearance talking with guests and we can enjoy their performances:
One Room Disco, MACARONI (sheleduled fo next week’s program -May 3st-). They promoted ORD in many TV music shows, but this one from Music Station (March 27) was one of the best TV stages to date:
One Room Disco @MS 20090327
Perfume also won the Best Choreography Video prize from SPACE SHOWER VMA 09 for Dream Fighter PV.
What’s next? Disco! Disco! Disco!
Those who’re lucky enough to go to Tokyo will enjoy Perfume’s new 2-days live at Yoyogi Stadium on May 9 and 10, latest news says that stage side seats had been added. It was also announced that WOWOW will broadcast the show, so we’ll watch it sooner or later regardless a DVD comes out or not.

It’s interesting what you can find there… take a look, it’s worth it.

I’ve been wanting to leave a record about the “Perfume Piano score book” and the Guitar tabs book “Perfume Songbook“.
Check out the Perfume Other releases updated page to know more about these piano and guitar books.
Music download website morawin just opened a special page for Perfume’s greatest live to date: BUDOUKaaaaaaaaaaN!!!!!
Although what you’ll find is a live report in Japanese and some photos, the point is what they have a special present for those who suscribe to their music online store (only Japan, again).
But don’t worry, you’re not missing out a precious and special Perfume good. What they’re giving as a present if you’re lucky enough to suscribe to morawin and win the raffle is this:

What’s that? A magazine holder?
Ah excuse me, that’s not a magazine holder, that’s a super cool and fashion Magazine Holder Perfume Dream Fighter™ limited edition.
(I’m sorry about the sarcasm but I can’t help it. I hate that kind of fake merchandising with printed logos.)
But if you are still in the need-of-Perfume-stuff-even-though-it’s-just-a-piece-of-junk (sorry again), you can bid for it in Yahoo Japan Auctions from a starting price as low as ¥3,000.
Go for it. 3 days left.

Ayaka MisiwakiNishiwaki Sayaka (西脇彩華), as known as Cha-pon of 9nine, has formed an electro-pop unit ORDINARY VENUS with Shuji Ishii (石井秀仁) of GOATBED. They will release their debut album ORDINARY VENUS on December 17th.In this unit, Ishii does track-making and art works, and Cha-pon takes charge of vocal. 80’s Japanese Idol Pops like Seiko Matsuda, Shizuka Kudo, Wink, Yoko Minamino, Akina Nakamori, Rie Miyazawa, and Yu Hayami revive by GOATBED supuleme twinkle and sparkling sound that only GOATBED can make.
Cha-pon is also known as a little sister of Ah-chan of Perfume. Just like Perfume that capture the heart of electro-pop in J-POP scene, ORDINARY VENUS must become the representative techno-pop unit of Japan with perfume for the future.
