By having their best weekly sales ever at a remarkable 226,858 copies sold, they not only claimed their third #1 album to go alongside 2008′s Game and 2009′s Triangle, but became the first female group since SPEED in 1999, and the second ever, to reach #1 three consecutive albums.

It goes without saying they’re doing things few female groups ever have the opportunity to do and continue to push forward boundaries on the Japanese music industry. Enough congratulations for this accomplishment can’t be given, so congratulations to Perfume for reaching #1!

Where to start? Well, chronologically speaking, let’s begin with “Glitter” itself.

Not only is there an extended preview of “Glitter,” but Perfume will be holding a contest to finish up the choreography on the video in a “Glitter” dance contest. Anyone is able to enter, though expenses will have to be paid out of pocket to get to Japan for us unfortunate foreign fans. The ten finalists will be chosen at an October 29th concert to perform on stage with the girls themselevs. Hey, not too bad.

Perfume will be releasing a new single on November 2, 2011! The single will feature “Glitter” as a b-side and a lead, tie-in single to be named later.  Oh, it’s very exciting, indeed because that information will lead to the brand new Perfume album JPN, hitting stores and delivery services on November 30, 2011. And even more still, all of that will go into an arena tour kicking off in January of 2012. To sum it up:

It’s about to get exciting for Perfume fans, so let’s all get ready for what this autumn and winter will bring for the girls as they take their next step! For the past few months the announcement of Perfume’s Polyrhythm to be a featured track in Disney Pixar’s Cars 2 score sent shockwaves through the J-pop industry and especially us fans. Although a seemingly common announcement, the major difference here comes with the fact that Polyrhythm, which set the stage for Perfume’s rise to stardom, is to be featured not just in the Japanese version, but it is considered to be an official track that would be played in all versions of the movie worldwide. It is an honor for Perfume’s music to be featured in an actual Hollywood movie!

5 years after the first movie, the setting Cars 2 takes its characters around the globe to participate in the first World Grand Prix. As one of the main settings takes place in Japan, Polyrhythm was chosen to be featured during a Tokyo club scene. More details about the soundtrack selection can be found in this video. The director, John Lasseter talks about Perfume around @ 1:05.

On Friday, we received a last-minute surprise announcement of the girls attendance of the Cars 2 Hollywood premiere on Saturday June 18 at the El Capitain Theatre. Those lucky enough to be within the area got a rare chance at seeing our favorite girls! Of course, many media outlets were there to cover the event as well. In particular, a stream was provided by X17 for fans around the world who could not make it to the premiere in time.

Overall the girls seemed very excited to be in LA, meeting Hollywood celebrities, overwhelmed to be at the premiere, and of course they were grateful to see American/overseas fans come down to the premiere to give their support and love. In an interview Nocchi stated that they’d love to come back to Los Angeles to do a LIVE show, so perhaps more overseas performances, or even a world tour, may be in store for the future. As for now, I was able to be at the red carpet event after driving 5 hours down the same morning, as well as take many wonderful fan photos alongside my fellow Perfume fans, many hailing from Perfume City as well!
