Perfume on 60th Kouhaku, PTA Fanclub Exclusive Spring Tour, and the Video Letter is done!

Back for another mass update!

It was announced that Perfume will return to the 60th annual Kouhaku Uta-Gassen variety show, marking it as their second time. Usually only the best of the best J-artists of that year are recruited, so it just goes to show how well the girls are doing! The show is a competition between the White Team (boys) and Red Team (girls). They will be joining fellow female artists like Kimura Kaela, Hamasaki Ayumi, Koda Kumi, Morning Musume, Ootsuka Ai, Angela Aki, Ikimonogakari, and, Perfume’s beloved, aiko. See the full Red/White Team list here. Perfume’s appearance at last year’s 59th Kouhaku is posted above, the performance is on YouTube (reversed, for some reason). The White Team won last year and has been doing so for the past few year, but with the up in J-pop divas & bands, the tables might just turn this year.

Announced prior at their Osaka leg of the 2009 Tour (image above), Perfume officially announced a special “live house tour” exclusively for their fanclub, PTA. It will take place in Spring of 2010, entitled 『パッと楽しく遊ぼうの会』/”Pa- to Tanoshiku Asobou no Kai”. No specific dates or venues have been announced as of yet, but I’d imagine the venues to be small and intimate, just like the good ol’ days. I’d say, if you have a chance to join PTA, you should do so as soon as possible.

And finally, the Sekai no Perfume Fan Letter project has now been completed! The video letter has been sent to Japan, where all three parts (including cover album & written letter) will be handed over to Perfume shortly. The video has also been uploaded onto YouTube. Thanks to everyone that has participated, and we hope to make another project soon! In fact, an X’mas gift project is in the works in the BBS as we speak, so check it out if you’re interested.

By the way, I’m sure many of you know that Perfume’s expensive DVD box set of their variety shows has been released. I was going to do a post entirely on it, but ended up posting a condensed review on the forums, so check it out if you’re interested.

Hasta la pasta for now!

An Update from the Perfume City Office

Greetings, Perfume City-zens!

First I would like to thank the Perfume City head-honcho, ekuseru, for giving me the opportunity to better serve the Perfume fan community by updating the site blog in his place. Due to his busy schedule, he was not able update the blog as much as he wanted to, but that’s where I’ll help out. Until further notice, I’ll be your navigator in the latest Perfume news, as well as adding some personal editorial/opinions/reviews regarding releases, media, and all that jazz.

Who am I? Well, I go by the alias of Meirin on the Perfume City BBS, or simply Mei elsewhere. I’ve been a Perfume fan since their ~Complete Best~ release came about. I was born & raised in California, obviously currently residing there and attending university. On the side, I own/participate in other blogs with various themes, from anime to idol voice actors to J-pop and so on.

But enough about me! How about some much needed Perfume news. Continue reading
