Impersonating Perfume: The Aprils and SMAP

Jul 2, 2008 Author: ekuseru | Filed under: Internet, Misc, Television

The Aprils & Perfume

The Aprils celebrated last April’s Fool day (April 1st) with a special site (only available that day, now has been removed) with “idol” contents tributing Perfume.

The Aprils are a band formed by two guys and one girl. Their electro music is similar to Perfume or capsule’s and related artists… YMCK, RAM RIDER or Aira Mitsuki and also to some of the Contemode (Nakata Yasutaka label) groups.
That 1st of April they released a fake new single called Stainless Girl, a clear reference to capsule and Perfume song titles (capsule’s album and song name Sugarless Girl, and Perfume’s song Linear Motor Girl or the most recent Ceramic Girl). They also cosplayed as Perfume’s Complete Best CD jacket art, and even recorded a PV imitating Perfume’s Polyrhythm PV scenes and CG.

That video was uploaded by them to Youtube but was removed after that day… but I recovered the video file so you can watch it here:

And Perfume’s Polyrhythm CD/DVD cover art version:

To follow up Perfume’s debut at Rock In Japan Festival this summer is the announcement of their appearance at Summer Sonic. The festival spans two days and two locations: one in Tokyo and one in Osaka. Perfume will be at the Dance stage in Tokyo on August 9th and on the same stage in Osaka on August 10th. For information on tickets and the schedule refer to the Summer Sonic Homepage.

For those hoping to make the trip from overseas, an English guide is conveniently available to help you out.

Sound Marina Live in Hiroshima with Perfume

SMAP x Perfume live

Jun 17, 2008 Author: ekuseru | Filed under: Television

They performed today at SMAPxSMAP program from Fuji TV along with the group SMAP.

SMAP teamed up with Perfume to sing and dance POLYRHYTHM. It seems that Nocchi has been the main focus. The stage was very similar to Chocolate Disco PV, colorful and plenty of laser-like lines.

(Perfume) Nocchi and Kashiyuka were wearing the costumes they used at NHK’s “Save the Future” / Eco Live.
